The sun was warming the day as I drove up the winding driveway on May 20th. The view, a gorgeous house set in front of fields of grass with clear blue skies, took my breath away. Behind the recently built, custom home in Dewinton, white chairs were arranged on a immaculately manicured lawn. The aisle, carved into the grass provided a subtle yet elegant walkway for the soon to be bride.
Inside the neighbouring home, a calm bride was beaming. Christina Kemp of Modern Makeovers was twisting, curling and spraying away to complete Kylie's vision of a soft, classic up-do. As Christina worked on the five bridesmaids hair, Jessica of Jessica's Mobile Beauty started on the bride's make up. Jessica kept a classic look to enhance the bride's natural elegance. Kylie's eyes popped with a flair of a blended smokey eye that completed the look. Before the bridesmaids changed from their flannel button up tops into their floor length lilac gowns, Kylie gave them each a pair of earrings from People's.
Upstairs, the mother of the bride, Kelly, followed Kylie to the master bedroom to get dressed. The stunning gown from David's Bridal featured a sweetheart neckline under a delicate lace. The dress fit Kylie impeccably, Kelly did her best to hold back tears as she looked at her first born daughter.
An overwhelming amount of emotion hit Kylie as she prepared to walk down the aisle to meet Mike. Her groom could hardly wait to see her, and it seemed her nerves calmed right down as soon as her eyes met his. Their officiant, Judy, told the story of how the two of them met and made the ceremony very personal. After the kiss, the newlyweds were congratulated by their guests and had some family photos done.
The decor of this wedding was beautiful. Behind the head table, the wall of rustic wood was taken from the barns of Mike's Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. The home made seating chart and family wedding photos made the tent completely personal without being overdone. Guests enjoyed funny, as well as tear jerking speeches from both the bride and groom's families. Modern Catering did a fantastic job on the burgers, salads and cupcakes!
Kylie, Mike and I managed to sneak away from the party at sunset to snap a few photos. I love when my brides ask me to stay into the evening, if for no other reason than to get that 'magic hour' that makes my heart skip a beat. Now that the hard part of the day was over, Mike and his new wife were so relaxed and were enjoying every moment of the evening. This showed beautifully in my lens and I was so happy to be clicking away.
I was very grateful Kylie and Mike chose me to capture their day. I was also very thankful for my second shooter, Melanie of Grey Lily and assistant Glenda of Glenda Bush Photography. Having a reliable, fun team makes all the difference.
Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Holmes. We wish you a lifetime of happiness!
