Kawthar and Ryan met in university. The instant he saw her, Ryan knew he had to ask her out before someone else did! The two met often and took their time getting to know one another. Ryan met her parents, who grew to love him like their own. The grooms family live in Northern Alberta and were very happy Ryan chose Kawthar to share his life with.
From the first meeting at Starbucks, I was so hoping they would choose me to document their day. Kawthar had found me on Wedding Wire and liked my overall style. I was happy she felt we clicked as well. They sent me a message soon after our meeting to ask me to be their photographer.
I arrived at the brides house just as she was having her hair curled and elegantly pinned by Hair by Ramza. Her make up was done by Beauty by Fatima, and was simply flawless. Smiling Aunts, cousins, friends and other family were busily finalizing the preparations. Food was displayed beautifully across the kitchen table, and pink balloons welcomed guests as they walked up the steps to the home. The father of the bride arrived with the bouquet. I think that was the moment it really hit Kawthar that this was her wedding day. Her eyes sparkled as she touched the delicate flowers made by Sharon of Simply Elegant.
Kawthar looked stunning in her gown from David's Bridal. The Swarovski earrings completed the bridal look and she was ready to meet her groom.
Ryan was surprised to have enjoyed a good sleep the night before. He looked a tad nervous but overall just very excited to see his bride. He waited for her in her parents back yard as Kawthars father gave her a huge hug. The bride and groom enjoyed a quiet few moments together before greeting their family.
Food was enjoyed, dances were dances and portraits were taken before Tracey and I met our couple downtown. Kawthar had seen wedding photos done outside The Bay and dreamed of having her formal portraits taken there. Tracey has taught be so much about photography, he teaches the course at MRU! I always feel so humbled and fortunate to work along side him.
After the formals, we met the bridal party for their photos then were off to Triwood for the ceremony. Aye Chan performed a very intimate, personalized ceremony for the couple. After a quick mishap (forgotten ring in the car!) the two said 'I Do' and we ran out for a few more photos. I had some extra time were I could do quick family photos for guests.
The evening ended with lots (and lots) of food done by the amazing Chef Gerd Steinmeyer along with delicious cupcakes and cakes by Swirl. DJ Nick from NES Entertainment kept the dance floor packed!
I am so grateful to have experienced the joining of these two people along with their families. I love learning and exploring different cultures and traditions. Congratulations to the newly weds!
