I was so fortunate to meet Susan and a bridal show in 2016. We started talking all things white, sparkly and pink and clicked right away! I met with Susan and her lovely fiance Mike and was so excited when they asked me to be their photographer for their big day.
I left my house early to arrive at the hotel where the bride and her ladies were getting ready. A team of two from Madd Pretty were already at work getting the girls gorgeous. I knew instantly that this was day was going to be a blast. The bridesmaids didn't stop making jokes and laughing the entire morning. They were dancing and drinking champagne, no one was stressed out about the fact it was raining cats and dogs outside!
Our first look was at the lobby of Hotel Arts. There was a special moment where the bride and groom touched hands before actually seeing one another. Their anticipation to see each other was through the roof and they spent long moments looking at each other when the groom popped the balloon, unveiling the amazing site of his gorgeous bride.
The Yellow Door Bistro was kind enough to allow us to use their amazing decor as our backdrop for some portraits of the bride and groom. We then headed to our plan b location, the SAIT parkade. We were shocked to see so many other bridal parties and photographers there but everyone was so accommodating and polite. We had so much fun in the warm, relaxed atmosphere and got some amazing urban shots of everyone.
It was time for the ceremony. The group made their way over to the Lougheed House downtown Calgary. There was a beautiful set up in the main room. Micheal's brother in law preformed the ceremony and was proud to stand next to Mike as he watched his bride walk down the isle.
I knew this group was going to party, and the reception did not disappoint! Everyone got their feet on the dance floor, including Micheal's mother for a few numbers! They danced and partied the night away, the drinks were flowing as were the midnight snacks being passed around by the staff.
I managed to sneak the two love birds outside for one last photograph, which ended up being my favourite of the day. It was still chilly, but after all the dancing it was a welcomed change. It was still raining out though not as heavy as earlier in the afternoon. The skies were dark but Susan held my flash up towards the umbrella so the light would shower them.
These two have really became friends of mine after all the planning and talking that lead us to the wedding day. I am so happy these two found each and wish them all the best the world has to offer!
Thank you to Joelene Mills Photography for being an amazing second shooter, and to Glenda Bush Photography for assisting.
