If there were ever a couple who loved the outdoors, it's Allissa and John. During their spare time, you will find them camping and enjoying all that the Rocky Mountains have to offer. They stumbled upon Nipika while searching for a venue which spoke to their outdoorsy personalities, while providing comfort and amenities for their guests. Nipika delivered in every way. Spectacular views, outdoor experiences, kind and helpful staff as well as beautiful modern cabins (built by the owner himself with lumber from the land).
Along the rocky road leading to Nipika, three separate signs read, 'Bumpy roads lead to beautiful places'. These words encompassed the day beautifully. The sun was shining and birds chirping as I pulled into the big cabin to meet the bride and her family who were all getting ready. I was informed that one of the groomsmen was sent to the hospital after braking his ankle. We all hoped he would be back in time and would feel up to participating in the ceremony.
As we began to load into the van to be taken to the 'first look' location, the sky turned dark grey and it started to pour. Not sprinkle, not just rain, absolutely downpour. The owner assured me it would be gone by the time we arrived to the spot, but his son wasn't so sure. He suggested putting the photos off. We crossed our fingers and drove up the trail. Sure enough, by the time John jumped out of the van the water stopped falling from the sky. The short storm provided me with the perfect light as Allissa approached her groom and they saw one anther for the first time that day.
Shortly after snapping a few photos, the groomsman Vinny arrived! He donned a cast and a huge smile. He limped around and kept up with everyone as we went from location to location capturing the beautiful bridal party in the breathtaking scenery.
The grooms brother officiated the ceremony which was personalized down to the last detail. After tossing lavender at the newlyweds upon their exit up the aisle, the guests were treated to champagne to toast Allissa and John and their new life as husband and wife.
I am so thrilled these two chose me to document their day. I can't wait to see what the future holds for these adventurous spirits!
Allissa's gorgeous bohemian styled dress is by BHLDN, the beautiful wild flower styled bouquets were done by Mihela Vertigine and the detailed stationary was done by Kati Varga out of Vancouver.
