With Valentine’s Day coming up I’m getting some last minuet calls for boudoir sessions. I thought I would start by telling you about my experience.
When I think back to my session in 2009 I realize that’s when the thought of becoming a photographer first came to mind. Seeing Susanne thrilled to be doing what she loved was inspiring. Oh-I’m getting ahead of myself.
My best friend Amanda was getting married. We lived in Kelowna and didn’t know very many people. I organized a boudoir photo shoot for Amanda, myself and her sister. We arrived early at Suzanne’s house and were pampered by a team of professional hair and make up artists. We sipped mimosas and snacked on fruit while the music Susanne put on got us in a fun and flirty mood. Not only did we feel beautiful and sexy during the photoshoot but remained feeling amazing for the rest of the day.
I was stunned when I got the photos back. Suzanne had done such an awesome job getting us prepared and you could tell in the photos.
OK-now for the hard part of blogging! The personal, nitty gritty stuff. I did not purchase the photos although I felt I looked amazing. Why? My husband (at the time) said he didn’t like my hair. Now I don’t tell you this for you to say you love my hair (because I do)—I share this bit because of the lesson I learned from it.
Is a little black book an awesome gift for your boyfriend or husband? Hell yes it is. What I learned is that it needs to first and foremost be for you. I love shooting boudoir photos, I’ve had several women shed tears of joy when they finish their session. My job is to overwhelm you with pride and beauty and self love.
Here’s my favorite shot from my session with Suzanne. Photo credit to Suzanne Le Stage Photography

Sam Kennedy - Love it! Couldn't agree more. I think I look at my boudoir pictures that you photographed of me more than my husband does. Sometimes I need that little esteem boost for the day.
