I've been getting a few emails about the sunflower sessions so I thought I would make some notes here!

When is the best time to get the sunflowers in full bloom?

The farm is recommending anytime after the 20th of August.  They will last for...well as long as they last!  In 2020 we had a good season with beautiful flowers until the end of September, but this year it may not go as long.  I will book until mid September and will have to look at later sessions closer to.  The farm is excellent about posting updates.

How much are the sessions?

A mini session is $275 plus gst.   A full session is $390 plus gst.

How do mini sessions work?

A mini session is 20 minutes long.  This does not include getting to the farm and walking to the field so I recommend families arrive 15 minutes prior to their time.  We will aim for a mix of candid and posed pictures, I go fairly quickly and try to make it as fun for everyone as I can.  Mini sessions are booked back to back on specific dates, please contact me for current availability.

How do full sessions work?

Full sessions are booked for 45-60 minutes so allow for more time to walk around, therefore giving us some different backdrops for the session.  This can also allow time for an outfit change.  Full sessions are best for engagement shoots, blended or extended families who want different groupings.  These full sessions may not be the best option for little kids as they typically have a short attention span for pictures!

How many images do I get?

I deliver all your digital, edited images via dropbox.  I take out any unflattering images (eyes closed and so on), edit all the good ones and send them off.  I focus on the quality of the images and it's hard to say how many you will receive.  A large part of the amount of images will be based on everyones mood and willingness to take pictures, as well as starting on time.  Typically a mini session will receive 20-30 images whereas a full session will see 50-75.

 What should I wear?

Neutrals usually work best for these sessions.  Avoid anything too matchy (everyone in the same colour shirt and pants), choose a colour pallet and draw items from there.  I will be sending a more detailed attachment in the 'how to prepare' email I send out.  I am also available via email or text so please feel free to send me pictures of the outfits you're thinking of!

Do I need a ticket to get in?

Yes- tickets to the farm need to be pre-purchased and presented when you enter.  You can buy the tickets online at www.sunmaze.ca.  Adults are $11 and children are $7 (under 5 years is free).  They have the maze, some animals, and a upick so come enjoy the farm before or after your shoot!  Tickets can be purchased 4-7 days in advance

The sunflowers bloom for a short time here in Alberta, so be sure to take advantage of this unique location!  The session fee will be transferable if the weather is terrible.
